Work/Babies

We spent two weeks working and doing little else. We spent a lot of time at math clubs which is always rewarding. We have been going to the same schools now for about a month and it's exciting to see how enthusiastic the students have gotten about math. We have also been developing materials for the math clubs to use when we leave but that has proven to be trying given the number of people involved and no clear cut line of authority  It remains to see how this will sort itself out.
I've also been teaching Life Skills to both Forms 1 and 2 at Bishop Abiero which has been the most rewarding activity. I've fielded so many fascinating questions about sex, love, AIDS, Ebola, boys, etc,
I love how the students feel free to ask me anything!!
We were invited to several local homes which was really nice. One was the home of our piki piki driver; the other was the home of our English teacher friend.

Sex discussion with Form 2 Girls at Bishop Abiero

Mel didn't come to the sex discussion session but has helped out with the other topics.

Form 4 Girls. This was our favorite class in 2012 and they are graduating in a month.

With Agnes, who is so special!

The fruits here don't look pretty like they do in the US but they are so delicious! These tiny bananas are incredibly sweet.

The avocados are delicious and abundant and cheap!

With Mark's baby Sammi.

Mark is a proud dad.

Mark got married while we were back in the US. This was the first time we met his wife.

This is Ndege, our friend and motorcycle driver. He transports us several times a week.

Ndege's new baby at two days.

Ndege has planted a new crop-Moringa Oliefera. It supposedly is a new wonder crop-cures everything that ails you, is nutritious, drought resistant, etc.

Monkeys at our house. The baby is adorable.

When we went to BBishop Abiero last week, the form 4 girls had just completed their Home Science practical exam. They all insisted we try each of their dishes.
