Hermanus and Wilderness Park

We spent a day and night in Hermanus to see the whales. Unfortunately, we only saws whales on signs but the ocean views were great. We did the cliff walk, watched the crashing waves and had a picnic. Then we hit two more wineries-La Vierge and Creation which had bite size canapes with each wine sample-nice!
The next day we drove to Swellendam which was started by an official of the Dutch East India company around 1745. The town has many interesting buildings built around that time, including the Drostdy which is now a museum. From there, we went to Wilderness park where we rented a  cabin for two nights-very cute right next to the river. We had a delicious dinner at The Girls in town;oysters, escargots, line fish and calamari.
We rented kayaks for a day, paddled down the river to a waterfall hike and then to a lake region where we had lunch. we cooked ostrich steaks for dinner.

We landed our kayak on the opposite bank and then pulled this pontoon across the river, got on and pulled it back to the other side. A cool way to get to a hiking trail.
