The Winelands

Only a very short drive from Cape Town are hundreds of wineries with beautiful landscapes and delicious wines. The first stop was the Fairview with its goats that climb up an down a ramp to their tower. After tasting, we bought a bottle of their sparkling wine another of their semillion.
The next stop was Haute Cabriere. We weren't enamored with their wines but the views wee great and we got a lot of travel recommendations from a local, friendly couple.
We had a huge, fancy and delicious lunch at La Petite Ferme-Snoek springroll, springbok and lamb with a wonderful shiraz.
The final wine stop of the day was Solas Delta-beautiful setting- and then we drove to Stellenbosch where we stayed in a hostel an dhad takeout for a light dinner.
The next day w estarted our early morning wine tasting at Warwick, a very upscale place with a small lake, buildings dating from 1771, pictures of both George Bush and Michele Obama, as well as excellent red wines. Morgenhof had even older buildings from the late 1600s and also some very good red wine.
We had lunch on the balcony of Uva Mira with its wonderful views across farmlands down to False Bay-bucolic.
The next stop was Vergelen where Queen Elizabeth visited and which had very formal English gardens. The final stop that day was Morgenster where we tasted olives, olive pates, olive oil and of course, wine. We stayed at an apartment that night and chilled with snacks from the road..
